In thinking about Thanksgiving Day tomorrow and all the many blessings I have to be thankful for, I am also reminded of a wonderful little song from the “Sound of Music” movie.  Some of the lyrics go like this:

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things

In thinking about all I have to be thankful for, I too am reminded of a few of my favorite things, like:

Homemade chocolate pie
Grass blowing in the wind
The contagious laughter of children
Scruffy little dogs
Music of Andrea Bocelli
Crisp autumn days
White clapboard houses
The midnight blue of stormy skies
Rummaging through antique stores
Deep purple iris flowers
The antics of squirrels
Snow-covered mountaintops
