The Wizard of Oz??
Taken when Gracie was very young. I think she thought this scarecrow…straight from the Wizard of Oz…was the real thing! I did the life-size face transfer using products from Michaels, applying the ‘face’ to some muslin fabric. I then sewed a back fabric section to the finished face and fitted all around a styrofoam head, pinning in place as needed. I then made the costume, stuffed with straw and placed my finished scarecrow on the front porch. My own Toto and scarecrow!!
Have a fun and safe Halloween everyone!
Wow, that’s very cool! One year the hubs was the Scarecrow, and I was Dorothy. I shoulda made masks using that face transfer technique! Maybe next time. 🙂
Never thought about doing that but no reason it wouldn’t work. Great idea!
Oh well Gracie, I also thought it was a real person at first!
Yes, Gracie definitely thought that it was real…and a little bit scary!
mom is so impressed with your wicked skills. She might start a project like that, but we know it would probably take her three years to complete it. Gracie, was the perfect accessory. We are all smiling at how adorable she looks, especially as she is looking up so adoringly at the Scarecrow’s face. Well, it took me awhile too, but it was a fun project! Did another one the next year like Johnny Depp from Pirates of the Caribbean. That one was fun also. Took it to work and the folks there had a good time taking photos with ‘Johnny’ at one of our Admin luncheons.
Sometimes all you need is the right shape. We have a stuffed dog at work we use as a model for harnesses, and some dogs cannot be convinced it isn’t real!
Ha! That’s too funny. Yeah I saw a dog going crazy once barking at a storefront window because there was a life-size stuffed dog on display there. The dog’s owner was chuckling, and so were the rest of us that were watching.
That’s a very realistic scarecrow! Good job! ;D
Thanks! Yes it actually turned out better than I thought it would, once I saw it finished.
Oh my gosh, that is a great scarecrow! We can understand why Gracie thought it was the real thing. 🙂
Happy Halloween!
She was really fooled!
Happy Halloween to you too!!
yikes… that scarecrow is quite realistic!
Yes, all we needed was a tin man and a cowardly lion!
I’m not surprised Gracie thought the scarecrow was really, that is totally cool, you’re very talented!!
I hope you had a fun time
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
Hey Snoopy!! We did have a fun time. Always do!
